Prof Gerard E Carroll AM
Consultant Physician & Interventional Cardiologist
Prof Carroll is a St Vincent’s trained consultant physician and cardiologist. He has expertise in the sub-specialties of general and interventional cardiology, and complex internal medicine. He is recognised as a leader in regional medical service delivery and is the principal of Riverina Cardiology.
He has been director of Cardiac Services at both the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory at Calvary Hospital, and Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, for over 20 years. Prof Carroll has also enjoyed a long-running involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and holds conjoint professorial appointments with the University of New South Wales and the University of Notre Dame Australia. He is a longstanding member of the National Examination Panel of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. He is a pioneer in the expansion of specialist services in regional Australia.
Prof Carroll was awarded Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for 2005 for “Service to medicine as a cardiologist and as a general physician, particularly through the provision of health services to regional and rural areas, and to medical education".
